Letter from the President

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Lake Whitney PTA welcomes you to the 2007/2008 school year. Lake Whitney Elementary is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. In recognition of this major milestone, the LWE PTA is proud to be working with the school administration to replace outdated playground equipment. The first step took place this summer with the installation of a new, up-to-date and enlarged playground. During the school year LWE PTA will continue planning and assisting in programs to celebrate Lake Whitney’s anniversary.

The PTA is an essential component to the success of Lake Whitney Elementary. Lake Whitney’s PTA supports many programs that benefit all of our students and faculty. Your membership contributions support such programs as: Accelerated Reader, Math Superstars, Guardian Angels, Nickels for Nurses, Health and Safety programs, and Media Center resources. We encourage all parents/guardians to join and support our school.

Along with your membership contribution, our annual fundraiser supports numerous programs at Lake Whitney. Red Apple will once again be our fundraising organization. This year’s fundraiser will kickoff on Thursday, September 6. Morley the Moose will visit the school and build excitement with the students. Parent packets will also be sent home on this day.

The Volunteer Kickoff is on Monday, September 10 at 8:20 a.m. in the Media Center. The PTA would like to invite everyone to come and learn about our existing and new programs that will be offered this year. Please make sure to drop by and find out how you can become involved.
As the school year begins, please take time to review our membership packages and volunteer opportunities. There is a membership program to fit every family. There are also volunteer opportunities to fit every schedule. Your involvement is an integral part in the success of Lake Whitney Elementary and our PTA.
Have a wonderful school year.

Lisa Ennis
PTA President
